Summer Business Topic Worshops/Coaching

The summer Business Topic Workshop/Coaching events (Business Communications / Business Marketing / etc) are offered as a 'learn as you do' instruction model. Students in these courses must have been accepted and connected with an Internship (the Business Internship program) or have started their own business (Start Your Own Business program).

Students will learn specific skills in the specific focus area during the time of the period. They will be working on skills that they will use directly in their internship/business. Group sessions will involve a review of the types of tasks that the students need to accomplish in their internship/business  - with instruction and tasks to complete. Students will then share their progress/work at next meetings. The specific expectations will different based on the type of work envirnoment (internship vs student business).

For students that are running their own business, the tasks will be established to aid in the growth of the business.

Students will have an online discussion area where they can connect with the instructor/coach as well as other students for assistance between meetings.

All students will be able to participate in on-going online discussion areas even after the summer program is over.

Schedule

  • There will be approximately 4-6 interactive meetings for each focus area
  • The schedule will be set based on the schedule/availability of the instructor/coach and the students
  • Some meetings may be set during business hours to permit the internship business leaders to participate (as appropriate)
  • Some meetings may be scheduled at work / business locations

Cost

  • The cost for these sessions has not been set yet, it will be set near the start of the spring semester
  • This is a non-traditional work/coaching learning experience and the cost will reflect the additional / different requirements of the instructor
  • For those who are participating in this course who have started their own businesses, the cost of this program is a business expense and can be covered completely by the business
