Web Development
THIS IS A ONE-SEMESTER CLASS OFFERED FALL SEMESTER ONLY.
HONORS option available for this course.
There are two roles that every business today needs to fill – Web site manager and Bookkeeper*.This course will prepare students with marketable skills ready to begin creating web sites for clients as a business or hired as a staff web manager.
Students will build their own web site in one semester while learning professional methods of developing and maintaining an online-presence. From installing the software to basic web design to web site security – students will come away with a well rounded experience and a web site which will showcase their abilities and serve as a portfolio piece.
*We also offer a full-year course in Bookkeeping to provide students with marketable skills in both of these critical business roles.

- Basic Computer Skills Workshop
- Tech Readiness (Prior or Concurrent)

- Basic Computer Skills - Basic computer usage and familiarity
Equipment Required
- A Current laptop - (required) A current laptop (within the last 4 years) with Windows, Mac or Linux is required during class.
Homework
Students should expect to spend 2-3 hours per week on homework.
About the Instructor
Mr. Paschen has been developing web sites for clients through his business Paschen Communications for approximately 20 years. He has also served as the Marketing Team Lead for the Joomla Content Management system (the 2nd largest content management system in the world) and is a presenter at national/international Joomla events. Prior to his work developing web sites, he wrote desktop programs for a number of small businesses. He had formal training in several computer languages and has programmed in too many computer languages to remember.
